Empty box for a Graham's SH61

Post by JKristiansen »

Hi.

Is there anyone who has or knows someone / a place where I can get my hands on an empty box/case for a Graham's Single Harvest 1961. ??

If so, just drop me a message ..

I'm in Denmark - have the bottle, just no box/case

I think you might be on the right site because we are all drinkers here not collectors so i’m sure one of us will be able to help you out.

Empty boxes are wanted by collectors for a good purpose. Empty boxes are also wanted by less good people for less good purposes. Please say something about yourself, independently verifiable, that could re-assure us that you and your purpose are good.

Thank you.

Don't know what you want me to say..

I collect the Single harvest collection - only need a couple of bottles for the complete collection.. All my bottles have a box - except for the 1961. So just trying to make the collection complete so all my bottles have a box..

My latest buy and my collection of Graham's Single Harvest..

The only bottle missing a box/case is the 1961 - it could be nice to have a box for that bottle, to complete the collection.. ImageImage

Lovely collection. I have enjoyed some of those, but not all. I hope you enjoy drinking them one day and wish you good luck with the hunt for the 1961 box as I too am a sucker for the packaging.

I have also enjoyed a great deal of those Port, but still have a couple of them to look forward to taste.

Thanks - I would love to find a empty 1961 box, just to complete the collection..

The problem of the missing box for a Graham's Single Harvest 1961 is solved..

I have gotten my hands on a empty box for my Graham's Single Harvest 1961.. :)

I wrote a mail to Graham's / Symington and ask about if they had any ideas about where I could find a empty box for a SH61..

They wrote back, that they had a empty box left in there warehouse in Porto, and that they were happy to ship it to me - free of charge..

So today I received a free box

That's what I call great customer service..

Great Graham's Tawny fan - especially their single harvest collection

That's great news. Anyone want to bet how they accidentally obtained an empty box for it? ;-)

I hope you are going to work on upgrading your collection to a collection of empty single harvest bottles, soon!

Excellent. You’re happy, and have praised them in public, so they might be happy.

I'm impressed; I would have thought one of us had one. I'm on Whiskey (can sometimes be misspelled whisky) sites and usually when collectors are looking for boxes one of us obliges mostly free of charge.

Now go drink a few!

My understanding of that is as such:
Irish: whiskey
American: whiskey
Scottish: whisky
Japanese: whisky
Canadian: can't make up their minds, use both, but mostly whisky

Glenn, I was only kidding; actually Uisce Beatha (Gaelge for water of life) is the original wording.

Looking at the pictures, I can't quite make out the lids that come with the boxes. The 1961 looks like it has a thick wooden lid but no brass band. The 1940 loks like it is a dark wood with a brass band. The 1963, 1972 and 1994 look like a pale wood with a brass band. Am I correct in thinking the 1952 and 1982 come in square card boxes, the 1990 in a wooden frame and the 2003 in a tube with a metal lid?
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

On the picture the 1961 has no box - and unfortunately I can't show a picture of the box I received from Graham's..

Yes..
1940 = dark wood with brass band
1963, 1972 and 1994 = pale wood with brass band
1952 and 1982 = square card box
2003 tube with metal lid

Great Graham's Tawny fan - especially their single harvest collection
