In bottle terms the usual rule is 21 years from vintage as a starting point. So magnums 32. Your Vesuvio 96 is now 26. But 96 is a minor vintage so perh...

20% ABV. From 375. pop'n'decant'n'pour Extraordinary amount of sediment. 90% opaque. Crimson rim. Cool blue fruit on the nose, later a little spice. Lots going on on the palate. Masses of well- rounded but still tart red fruit compote. Then a note reminiscent of those Polish preserved cherries. Then...

I am now going to be running late for this tasting, as I will not land at Heathrow until 1825 on 6th, but I am determined to attend, absent flight delays.

I will aim to deliver the GM92 to the B&F the previous week and will ask them to decant it on the morning of the 6th.

Middling dark red. Quite dumb on the nose at the moment. But on the palate this is the real thing - big full rich ripe port. Young, but very promising.

Paler than the 2000. Smells sweet and powerful, congruent palate. Finishes a bit short at first but fills out later.

Dark as anything here tonight. Full brooding nose. Good big rich port. Drying tannins still. A baby.

Very pale red. Spicy nose. Warm red licorice on the palate. Pleasant but minor port drinking well tonight, but to be drunk up.
