From a different source to the Warre 1963 I've asked about, recently obtained three bottles of Sandeman 1942.

There isn't a tasting note on TPF, and I can't find anything recent elsewhere. Does anybody know anything about this wine?

I've just acquired a small parcel of Warre 1963 which has a quite distinctive four-leaf clover (?) design embossed in the foil (photo below).


Does anybody know if this indicates a particular bottler?

I've still got a couple of bottles of Rebello Valente 1972 from a whole unopened case I "won" at Christies some years ago.

Haven't got any TNs, but the bottles were all in perfect condition and from memory the contents were pretty good.

Popped & poured.

Drunk over space of a week. Vacuvin-ed in between. Didn't notice any particular develop during this period.

This was released by the Symington toward the end of 2016 and is (supposedly) the final release from their stocks. Therefore hoping it's in perfect condition...

Bottled 2016, half bottle with "proper" driven cork. A gift from one of the sommeliers at the Rex Whistler restaurant at Tate Britain, but appears to be currently retailing around £20 for a 75cl bottle. Pleasant nose, with good body and evident tannin. Slightly spirity finish, but overall ...

Suspect the options are different if you go via one of their people - I got a 3-pack through my Account Manager.

If anybody's interested & hasn't seen this, the latest release of the Taylor's "Very Old Single Harvest Port" - the 1967 is now available (follows previous 64, 65 & 66 releases).

BI Wines are punting it out at £380/3ib or £740/6ib. C&B were similarly priced.
