Re: 2011 Declarations

Any impressions yet? Very tempted to buy EP as it is our wedding year. My impression was that quality seemed very good across the board. Caveat: You should take into account with my comments below that I am not generally familiar with tasting such young VPs and so my judgement was based on the wine...

Re: 2011 Declarations

Either way, enough houses declaring to call this a general declaration, which it makes it the first '1' year to be generally declared in the two centuries since the system began.. I guess 1931 had too few declaring to count as 'general' and 1991 was split 1991/2. It is interesting looking at the nu...

Re: 2011 Declarations

The publicity releases for the Symington brands quote alcohol, ‟Total acidity ”“ 4.20 (g/l)”, and Baumé. Sorted dry to sweet, they are: Scary. I'd just been looking at the difference between G11 and G11-Stone-Terraces (GST11 ?), and created a similar list of Graham over time, to try and see what t...

Having seen the full resolution image, definitely a real pic; Lots of minor ephemera indicating real, not generated, including: -- minor tear on Capela capsule -- minor fold on Cockburn capsule -- tiny corner of back bottom label on Vesuvio peeking out Some interesting further details looking at the...

Updated draft of the placemats . AP’s +1   WG. Believed to be finished: perhaps somebody knowledgeable and competent could check. Updated draft of the placemats . S.E.-d . All looks ok, provided that: - removal of S.E.-d is correct; not mentioned in thread since DRT's last instruction on bringing ...

Re: 2011 Declarations

At full resolution the whole photo looked photo-shopped. Perhaps the bottles were photographed separately, then brought together edge selection seemed hard rather than soft. I've only seen the lower resolution version, but I don't think this is a composite, assuming they are actually real bottles (...

Thank you both. Having read your responses and had a little look around on a couple of sites I'm now wondering if its too good to give away as I don't want to miss out on tasting it! I'm thinking a happy medium would be to host a dinner party so we can all enjoy!!!! Since you fancy tasting it, arra...

Re: Port to sell?

With only a couple of bottles, you are unlikely to have much interest from the main wine merchants; You would also likely only achieve a similar price at auction, which might be more hassle than it is worth for two bottles. As you are in the UK, I will PM you with a suggestion.

But if the bequest is specified to be to a daughter, are you prepared for the required sex change?

Shall I ask the two industry guests a) to attend b) to bring something nice? I would suggest if we agree to put them in, that we pay for their meals. Axel From earlier in thread, I unerstood we are already expecting Dirk and Joao Nicolau de Almeida; both are marked as TBC in the attendee list, as I...

Business cards

I'm having some TPF business cards printed shortly for myself and JDAW; If anyone else wants more cards at the same time, please email me by the end of the weeked - I plan to place the order on Monday, and would intend to bring the cards to the tasting on 23rd April for those who will be there.

Re: Warre LBVs, Re-scheduled

Are these of any interest..? They would be, but the seller appears to have a very high reserve, especially given the quantity of bottles. The same seller placed 10 of these bottles up around June(?) last year on bidforwine, and I think the bidding reached somewhere in the 250-300 mark and did not s...

Re: 1983-1985 Double Horizontal on Tuesday 2 April 2013

I would love a bottle of Kopke Colheita 1984 (€45) - and could then swap you for one of the F83/D83 pair which I will be bringing. No worries if this doesn't work for you, just a thought in case. Very sorry to say that all the 1984 Kopke has sold out! And I never thought to ask if you had a second ...

Re: Software that makes placemats

The current default behaviour is perfect for smallish tastings so should remain the default. But the ability to produce the format that you find odd is useful for tastings where the tasting mats become elongated, such as was the case at the Taylor tasting on Friday. Agreed with preference for curre...
