Re: 2017 Graham The Stone Terraces
Delicious! Red fruits on the nose. Loads of dark fruits - black cherries and plums, a little spice. Good tannin structure, strong but not dominating the fruit, wonderfully balanced. Having read some of the scores for this port I was unsurprised when this was revealed as the Stone Terraces. Excellent.

Some chocolate alongside plum on the delightfully full aroma. Plum dominates the palate alongside other dark fruits and yet more dark chocolate. Maybe the aroma promises more depth than I'm getting in the taste, but this is enjoyable drinking. V good.

Re: 2017 Skeffington
Some dark fruits, cranberries, chocolate and spice. Strongly dominated by the tannins in the mouthfeel. Quite closed, but opened up with more time in the glass. Potential.

Re: 2017 Javali
Not much fruit to be found. Very grippy tannins and some acidity, but not much else to balance this, leading to a very dry port. Maybe better when it opens up? Left some to breathe until later in the evening - a little cherry shone through but still seems like this is not ready to drink. Not one of ...

Complex and spicy, red fruit and plums. Not as tannic as others, might be one for early drinking, it's very enjoyable right now! V good.
(I have the rest of the bottle but haven't had the chance to try again yet, but as soon as I do I'll add further notes)

This was fairly closed, not much fruit fruit to be found. Red berries. Very strong and grippy tannins dominating the mouth and making this very dry indeed. Ok

I didn't find as much depth here as some other ports from the tasting, but I did find this light and easy to drink. Mostly dark fruits, blackberries and plums. I'll be interested to see how this goes over time. Good

This was one of my outstanding ports from those I tasted. Lovely, with lots of plum and a little dark chocolate in the back of the palate, depth of flavour is great. Strong gripping tannins too so plenty of potential for a long future. Excellent!

Loads of fruit here, pretty heavy and dominated by strawberry fruits. Very very sweet top notes but with a lot of grippy tannins too. Seems to have good potential, when it comes together this may be excellent. Good.

Re: 2017 Noval Nacional
Not much on the nose for me here, red fruits in the palate. Nice tannic structure that suggests it may age a long way into the future. I'd like to try this once the 17s really hit their strides in a couple of decades. Good

Lovely to meet you all yesterday, I had a really enjoyable evening! I am also an idiot and forgot to add the ports to my notes so I don't know which ones are which
Did anyone who was tasting A and B flights note down which ports were which? If so, could you please post them on here?

Gammon, egg and chips sounds like an honest and solid option, thank you. An excellent choice, with excellent reasoning. I’m delighted that our new recruits are of the highest calibre. And I’ll assume that the failure to request black pudding was merely a newbie slip, soon to be corrected. Yes indee...

Re: Tue 25 June 2019 - 2017 Vintage Ports
Will there be the chance to taste specific wines at the end of the night? I'm looking to try 4 in particular to help with a personal purchasing decision (and would also love to try the other super-cuvees that won't be in my assigned flights). Since this is my first tasting I'll obviously follow what...

Since this will be the first time I'll be joining this group for a tasting I was wondering how far in advance will we likely know which ports we will be able to taste? This won't affect my decision to join for the evening, I'm just curious!

Thank you, Alex! I have already secured some of the 2017, but still looking to add a case or two more of the "bargain" ports, once I've seen some tasting notes (or maybe even have tried some if I get the opportunity). Yes, I haven't quite got the spare cash to get him a bottle of £1k+ a bo...

Bristol port lover
Hi! Just found the forum while I was looking for info on the recent 2017 releases. I started collecting port in 2013 when I was fortunate enough to be researching some VP for my father, who was turning 65 - I was fortunate enough to purchase a couple of cases of 2011 ports for myself! I've added a c...
