This is a great post Tom I'm afraid my experiance with Nacional is limited every time I think of bidding on one I look at all the bottles I could buy with the money and bid on others.Missing out probably.

Just for fun I tasted this against Morgans.Let me explain this using some modern popular history for me Morgans is the rockers all upfront and strong de la Rosa the mods sophisticated but lacking depth.

I've had some very old ports which I enjoy for the moment and history but there is nothing better than a port on the plateau for me national 66 at the tasting(the fonseca was just beaten but in my opinion will improve or last longer)

Firstly I would like to apologise for my lack of input over the last few months,As to the ferreira 1980 from the bottle I tasted it was a good solid port and well worth the money but quite scarce here.The wow for me was a humble LBV Quinta Venteloza 94 superb.

I had an offer sent to me for this port I think it was from farr's but I could be wrong it said that they found this cask some years ago and bottled it.The price was to expensive so I did not take a great deal of notice.

On the 1924 there was a wine merchant in the UK called Cockburns and something or other who did actualy bottle port.I've come across them at auction.

To be honest I think that the tasting notes are quite important It is the person or person's who've spent the time putting them together for this website ie Julian and others who should make the decision.I personally don't have a problem with it because I have put in no effort apart from my own tast...

The only part of me that feels uncomfortable about this thread is Roy has not been here to reply.As I stated Roy's tasting notes I believe are not biased I believe if you are friendly with a shipper or shipper's it has some bearing that is only human nature.The FTLOP site rarely or maybe never say's...

I think this is a valid point we all have financial commitments some more than others but whatever vintage port is an expensive hobby other ports less so.I would like to think whatever port we drink on this forum either novice or expert will be given the same attention on the forum and I think it has.
