Curious the way Taylor produce a sterling VP, but are firmly in the second division for all their other efforts..
The ten year tawny will probably be lot better after another decade in the bottle - if you can spare the cellar space!

and who would let me play with his explosives You can play for free - Saturday mornings in October, when I train all-comers in the gentle art of painting the sky! (the training sesions always end with a bang.. :D ) ~~~ I don't have a clear benchmark for '85 decanting times - so far they seem a litt...

Many of my bookmarked sites have little icons against their name on the list instead of the ie logo - for example the vintage port site has a nice little bunch of grapes.
How about a nice little barrel for this site??

Alex's answer certainly shows the accountant in him to perfection :D I thought that the stock control for vintage port was very strict - that when declaring a vintage, the quantity made and the amount sold each year was carefully recorded by the IVDP, and that re-badging was strictly off-limits.. .....

Quarles Harris has been a flag of conveniance for the Sym's for some time - it does not appear to have a consistant house style, and has been unashamedly on the bottom rung of their range of blends. This makes it an ideal house to supply the likes of Tesco. Now, if the Sym's wanted to raise QH's sta...

Ronnie, That's an interesting link, although a bit heavy going for me as it's clearly a translation... - from Dutch?? Although it's possible to pick odd holes in the accuracy, these seem to be accidents of translation rather than factual errors - so a well researched piece. I do think it would be go...

known for some reason as BOB's BOB = Buyer's Own Brand Usually the original shipper's name is included deep in the small print, but I notice that Tesco 'own brand' vintage port (from 1994) is now merely credited to the Symingtons. You would have thought that with eight - going on ten - names under ...

Taylor did declare '75 - but along with Graham (and closely followed by Croft) it is a wine that bucks the negative reputation of the '75 vintage - not a superstar, but declaration-worthy.. ~~~ Another day and this wine keeps getting better - much better - but who would normally wait this long? Anyo...

Can I be nosey? If I was to drink a Taylors 83, or similar bottle, I would need an occasion. Doesn't have to be much, a friend visiting, a birthday, etc, etc. I get the feeling your lucky enough to have the cellar and the inclination to just 'Open a bottle'. Is that true or do you attach it to a reas...

the stainless steel filter does leave some sediment in the decanter If the sediment is fine and the wine dark, it's hard to avoid a little getting into the decanter. While the last glass may end up being a tad cloudy - it's often the best one out of the decanter - a little wispy sediment does not s...

101 things to do with a Vesuvio bin label..
Every case of Vesuvio comes complete with a nice pottery bin label, neatly packed in it's own little black and white box.. ..but how many people use bins for storing their bottles these days?? I have a stack of those little boxes in my cellar, and while I'm loathe to throw them away, I haven't a clu...
