No worries - I didn't think anything post-70 would last long on the list, so I was likely already a goner unless you fancied the J&B :)

Re: Monday ?13th? October 2025 - Taylor Vertical

Yes please. Could offer Justerini 60 (believed Taylor, though not definitive), T63 (which you already have so don't need), T66, T77 or T85.
(am assuming you mean VP and not SHTs btw)

Bottle decanted 5pm.
Had intended just having one glass tonight to see, and starting properly tomorrow evening. Utter failure. Glorious drinking already this evening.

Re: 1982 Churchill

Am not surprised by your 48hr judgement; it has been rare that a Ch82 has made it to the third day for me, but I definitely find it better the first two days - indeed I'd say better the first day, but while happy immediate drinking I would say it is generally better with a 3-4hr decant. Seems to fit...

Re: Port brand abbreviations

Still not VP, never mind 3+ vintages of VP, so for me no fixed abbreviation. This page mentions Vista Alegre vintages 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2005, and 2000. Fair. VA. And while at it, this page mentions Quinta de Valle Longo, vintages 2018, 2017, and 2011. My preference is Lg , but Ln should be me...

That said, if the consensus thinks otherwise, then I would very strongly favour use of VA over the suggested alternatives.

Re: 1896 Port - Unknown: Help with digging!

I'm not a Port tong owner, unfortunately, so it's either Durand or potentially using some DIY skills to bodge a useable if clunky tong alternative (I have a vague plan). I realistically don't have enough essential use for tongs - inc old port consumption being an irregularity - to buy, and I'll put...

Re: 1931 Noval for potential sale

I agree that with the 1931 (not 1937). I would note that there is at least one other quinta bottling in 1931 - Roriz - and there could be others; but I agree that this is most likely to be Noval, especially since there is a known bottling of Noval 1931 by Justerini.

Re: 1896 Port - Unknown: Help with digging!

I don't suppose you recall the appearance or, better still, have photos of the Feuerheerd cork, perchance? I'm afraid not, sorry. Almost less interesting now but, for info, I'm 99% convinced it's NG for the bottler - but this is looking like a wild goose (or even unicorn) chase. The only bottler I ...

Re: 1931 Noval for potential sale

Agree clearly "QUINTA" on the cork, and "Justerini & Brooks" and "1931"on the capsule - which if it's ok with you, I would like to add the capsule image to the VPID please?

Re: 1896 Port - Unknown: Help with digging!

Great colour for an 1896. Agree with the "& SONS" on the capsule. Could be "NG" but am less certain, especially with the distortion. I have one photo with similar capsule which is a Feuerheed 1896, but definitely a different bottler, assuming the outer text never rotates rela...

I'm very sorry to hear the news of your situation. A port tasting for your end of life party sounds like a very fitting choice for a member of this forum; I hope the tasting goes well, and echo the thoughts of others in wishing you best-possible comfort.

10 years later and Canais have surpassed themselves with their latest label and packaging, particularly a back label with a serious geek's level of information! see here.

2014 Cockburn Canais

I have very much enjoyed previous Canais releases, sometimes preferring them over the main Cockburn vintage port when both were released in the same year (in both 2000 and 2007). I was therefore pleased to see the Cockburn Canais 2014 in Sainsbury with an interesting new label and packaging design -...
