Ok -- without objection we will rule in favor of a tin foil party at TCP on Monday.

Re: The Yank is thirsty! TCP this Sunday (April 11th)?
Thanks for the responses, gang! Sorry to hear you won't be able to join us, Wolfgang. We'll hold out hope that the volcanic ash interfering with your diary clears out by monday night :) Alex -- would you mind booking the boardroom for us? Anyone want to suggest a theme (e.g., 1970?) or should it be ...

Perhaps now is a good time to mention that I am free on the evening of the 17th. Don't know where Sussex is, but will happily buy a map to attend the tasting!

Sorry -- it was the 1967 -- typo corrected (the other bottles in this parcel from F+R are 1970 Graham and Taylor).

Re: Declared - and declarable, some sums..
It is with great sadness that I report that both the bottles of 'Taylor Vintage Port, 1967' I purchased (one from Premier Cru and one from Fine + Rare) have turned out to be Vargellas.

The Yank is thirsty! TCP this Monday (April 19th)
Been in the States the last few weeks, and haven't attended a port tasting in nearly a month now (!?) OK - we have very strong interest in a TCP Classic on the 19th (Boardroom, 7pm). Dry trousers and full bottles preferred. AHB DRT JDAW JacobH Chris Cookie Tom We're gonna go blind unless I hear any ...

Re: Quinta dos Malvedos: 22nd March 2010
Hi guys -- I will arrange for my admin to bring the 99 to the lobby of my office so that cookie can pick it up as scheduled on Monday morning. As for the placemats, as I am in currently in NYC, I am afraid I am no longer able to print them and bring them to the tasting. Sorry to have to miss out on ...

Re: Emergency off-line: London, 17th March 2010
Well lads, we gave it a decent go. Very nice to meet Tom for the first time, but three out of four bottles being flawed/off is thankfully an unusual event. 1985 Quinta do Noval: Cloudy, with a very light, almost watery rim and TONS of loose sediment. Drinkable, and not at all without life, but very ...

Re: Quinta dos Malvedos: 22nd March 2010
That's a very interesting question, and I will most happily defer to the judgment of the port gurus, but my initial thought on this is to keep them where they are. The primary line of reasoning is that horizontals of Grahams in themselves are not entirely uncommon, whereas being able to taste the Ma...

The 2000 Vesuvio (and I would say also the 2007 and 2007 Capela) are superior to the 1997.

Wow -- I'm quite surprised to see this trailed behind the Kopke. Is that representative in your experience, or was the Taylor a bad bottle?
