Inexcusable. It doesn't even make sense, there's no need for an apostrophe anywhere in that sentence.

It has arrived!
At €130 (bought from Kopke itself) I think it was a good buy. Can't wait to open it.

Re: Something off with this 1964 RP
Yes, anniversaries are fertile ground for this sort of nonsense. I couldn't stop chuckling when I saw the bar top. Such a silly thing.
That said, the bloody thing is already at €138 with 2 days remaining. Ridiculous that they haven't removed it yet.

Something off with this 1964 RP
Just thought some pictures of this alleged Ramos Pinto 1964 should be shared. https://assets.catawiki.com/image/cw_large/plain/assets/catawiki/assets/2024/10/17/6/c/d/6cd27bf0-b98f-43c1-840b-389bb875762c.jpg https://assets.catawiki.com/image/cw_large/plain/assets/catawiki/assets/2024/10/17/f/8/9/f89...

Guru white is excellent, I agree.Bertie3000 wrote: ↑13:07 Thu 17 Oct 2024 Hi if there is a space available could I be added to the attendee list (or to the reserve list if not). I do not own any of their ports but happy to buy as needed. I really like the white they make Guru/Guru NM too. Michael (MJRM).

Re: Pintas Vertical
Their still wines are brilliant, some of the best in the Douro. I don't have as much experience with their ports (mostly with tawnies from their Manoella brand, which are very good) other than tasting at fairs and the like, but they should be on the same level.

I have 2003, 2007, 2014, 2016.
It's unlikely I'll make the tasting, but these things pop up every once in a while.

God damn Google.
"Is Tokaji fortified?"
"Yes. Also, no."

Re: NV 30 Year Old Moscatel Bodegas Malaga Virgen
Wait until you taste Carcavelos… George, I tried one about 2 years ago. It don't recall if it was a 12 year-old or 15 year-old, but it was just okay. I didn't take notes on it, but I remember being a little disappointed because I was expecting more from it. It's possible it was a bad bottle, but it...

There's also Moscatel fortified wine in the Douro (mostly from the Favaios/Alijó area).

Re: 2015 Quinta Seara d'Ordens
I went to university with the son of the owners, and he's now very involved in the winemaking (we did oenology together). They're a very decent producer. Their table wines are hit and miss, but their Ports are of a very consistent quality. Not top tier but very decent. That's good to hear. I enjoye...

Make tons of marmalade. It keeps well. They're also good sliced and put in the oven with brown sugar/honey and cinnamon.

I just used an Ah So corkscrew (the ones with the two metal prongs). Didn't want to risk a cork implosion.

Re: Latest buy
As someone born in 1984, I've had it twice (and I see it quite often on auction). I think it's a pretty decent VP, from a quite underwhelming year. Perfectly enjoyable, it just won't blow anyone's mind. Honestly, don't take too long to drink it, I think it will only get worse from now on (I had it t...

Re: Port brand abbreviations
Carlos Alonso Douro Wines Lda have vineyards around Alijó. While mainly a winemaker, they have also been making Vintage Port for the last decade or so and have declared several vintages in those years. Their Vintage Ports are bottled, shipped and sold under the Piano brand. (Their Peace & Love ...
