nac wrote: 16:08 Wed 13 Nov 2024 Nickolls & Perks have a "limited time offer" of Noval 2018. 6 bottles for £240 - duty paid & delivered. No idea how much they've got, but £40 a bottle all in seems like a good thing.
That's a good deal, I'd get in on that if I could.

Inexcusable. It doesn't even make sense, there's no need for an apostrophe anywhere in that sentence.

At €130 (bought from Kopke itself) I think it was a good buy. Can't wait to open it.
That's a great price! Especially considering the BBR price for the Noval 50.
Well, it costs €260 in Kopke's website. I have a hook there

Re: Something off with this 1964 RP

Yes, anniversaries are fertile ground for this sort of nonsense. I couldn't stop chuckling when I saw the bar top. Such a silly thing.

That said, the bloody thing is already at €138 with 2 days remaining. Ridiculous that they haven't removed it yet.

Something off with this 1964 RP

Just thought some pictures of this alleged Ramos Pinto 1964 should be shared. https://assets.catawiki.com/image/cw_large/plain/assets/catawiki/assets/2024/10/17/6/c/d/6cd27bf0-b98f-43c1-840b-389bb875762c.jpg https://assets.catawiki.com/image/cw_large/plain/assets/catawiki/assets/2024/10/17/f/8/9/f89...

Guru white is excellent, I agree.

Re: Pintas Vertical

Their still wines are brilliant, some of the best in the Douro. I don't have as much experience with their ports (mostly with tawnies from their Manoella brand, which are very good) other than tasting at fairs and the like, but they should be on the same level.

It's unlikely I'll make the tasting, but these things pop up every once in a while.

Re: NV 30 Year Old Moscatel Bodegas Malaga Virgen

Wait until you taste Carcavelos… George, I tried one about 2 years ago. It don't recall if it was a 12 year-old or 15 year-old, but it was just okay. I didn't take notes on it, but I remember being a little disappointed because I was expecting more from it. It's possible it was a bad bottle, but it...

There's also Moscatel fortified wine in the Douro (mostly from the Favaios/Alijó area).

I went to university with the son of the owners, and he's now very involved in the winemaking (we did oenology together). They're a very decent producer. Their table wines are hit and miss, but their Ports are of a very consistent quality. Not top tier but very decent. That's good to hear. I enjoye...

Make tons of marmalade. It keeps well. They're also good sliced and put in the oven with brown sugar/honey and cinnamon.

I just used an Ah So corkscrew (the ones with the two metal prongs). Didn't want to risk a cork implosion.
