Moving old Port

Moving old Port around in this weather causes temperature shock when coming out of the cellar and the risk of seepage starting. Sadly it’s not uncommon for bottles come from caution houses having started seeping. Does anyone have any recommendations regarding smaller bags / styro shippers which can ...

Re: Dow Vertical 2 February 2027

I think the adjustment to the theme here is really interesting. The number of 1920’s Port in particular is shrinking massively. I have been lucky over the years to buy a few when they were not very much money. I have very few left and don’t expect to replace them. Once they are gone they are gone. I...

Re: 2011 Quinta do Vesuvio Capela

So, assuming the bottle that Alex noted in 2013 to have been a sample with a different cork, the (statistically invalid) ratio of corked bottles appears a bit disturbing. I am willing to contribute to the cost of purchasing another bottle from a different cellar to those tasted so far, to see if we...

WED 17TH June - Bottle wrapped in foil and Quevedo Closure Experience Case

It’s been ages since I have done a blind tasting, we used to do more of these bring a bottle wrapped in foil tastings. In the early days of TPF I think they were the most common type of tastings. We have become better at doing excellent organised verticals and horizontals. Once in a while a decent b...

Re: 2011s, Thu 23ʳᵈ Apr 2026, B&F

A very enjoyable tasting. Some had definitely closed down but I think pretty much all were there for the long term. It’s not often I go to tasting where the standard is all so high. The GST was just so different to every other Port and particularly the Graham. It was agreed we should do another 2011...

The first of a series of 2011 Vintage Port tastings on St George’s day as we approach the 2051, 40th anniversary tasting in 2051.
According to the mathematical experts in the club statistically 20% of who has signed up may not make 2051!
I have therefore not signed up.
