Big fan of Graham's - and especially the Single harvest collection
Indeed a big fan and quite a collection as I have seen in other posts. How long do you tend to keep these tawnies for? As I understand, Graham's expect you to drink them "shortly" after release.

2003 Sandeman Vau

Enjoyed at the beautiful Heritage B&B, Weymouth. Unsure on decant time. Dark red in glass with 90% opacity. Deep black forest fruits on the nose. Big. Beautiful. In the mouth, it grips, just in a slightly odd manner ("I'm being hit from different sides and I don't know how to process that"). Added o...

2,4,6 trichloroanisole bonds to polyvinylchloride in preference to remaining in a wine. So if you roughly place a couple of feet of PVC (not LDPE) clingfilm in a bowl and pour the wine over it and leave it half an hour then extract and dispose of the PVC you will lessen the corkiness. It rarely mak...

Re: On the hunt for a 93!

Now definitely not Port - please demote. Since this thread is going in all sorts of directions, I hope that no-one will mind if I say this: I’m always intrigued by Tokaji Essencia since I have never quite understood who the target market is. I am not quite sure if the business of serving it on a tea...

Re: On the hunt for a 93!

I wonder what the best wine made in 1993 was? I’ve only tasted the Crasto 1993 LBV (which was very enjoyable) so I’m not qualified but I hear it was a great vintage in South Australia and in Tokaji. And that 1993 Sercial I mentioned was stunning. Simon and I will be reviewing the 93 aszu essencia f...

I know, but still......€400+ per bottle for a - at best - passable Port? Jeez.
The supply is low so we have these inflated wine searcher prices. Keeping your eyes peeled they pop up for under €200 now and then.

Or a blend of 1994 and 1992 as I think Sophia Bergqvist said they did at Qdl Rosa!
The blend was very much "I have a bottle of 1992 and 1994 - let's mix". The cask in the lodge is nothing but a ruse apparently!

Exactly. My son was born in that year and this is the only stock he will ever have the chance to taste from his birth year. I have never tasted it.
Given you have so many, you should try at least one... Sooner rather than later.

Re: On the hunt for a 93!

Having tried it, it's actually in a pretty good state. The reason it's expensive is because it's the only option for 93.

Hi Lucas. Welcome to The Port Forum and the slippery slope that awaits you! Where abouts in the world are you? - if you're London ways, we used to have lots of tastings in the before times. Otherwise, we have lots of virtual ones now and we'd be happy to welcome you along to them.

Re: One quiz at a time

akzy has it! I am in a way quite proud that it took the heavy-duty minds here a year to sequence that one. We could of course alter the dataset retrospectively by clubbing together to buy the expensive and probably disappointing vintages featured in the sequence... ... but that is a tasting for ano...
