Foodstuffs being considered include Scouse, sighted and blind. Welsh rarebit training is soon to commence.

It is not a restaurant. Broadly (with vegetarian exception), we will be having the same thing — and plenty of it.

My best is a 1931. I would feel hard-done-by if that weren’t enough for a seat.

RP97, from IDJ. 100% opaque; smoke on nose; palate rough.

RP94, from JDAW. Special commendation to the many photos in the TN thread. Dark dark dark red, 95% opaque. Wait until 2031, at least. Drinkable, but very junior, with smoke.

RP85, from MPM. Black, 95% opaque. Nose had smoke. Palate had lots of big red cherry fruit, but also a slight baga hollowness.

RP83, from PW from IDJ. Black 98% opaque. Black, 98% opaque. This is a good 1983, with plums and big sweetness. But very baga.

RP82, from JDF, despite absence — thank you. Black, 98% opaque. Dark fruit, but bagaesque hollowness.

RP80. The colours changed: ≥1980 being near-black 98% opaque. Palate harmless: some dark fruit, but empty. Somebody near me — words stolen, credit not given by failure of memory — said “low-personality wine”, which was very correct.

RP77, from CPR — donated despite his absence, for which thanks. Colour bright red, 40% opaque. My TNs were becoming brief: light, maraschino cherries.

RP70, from AHB. How was this not unambiguous WoTN? Beautiful, big, grip, spice, red fruit, and wonderful texture. Very proper Port.

RP64, from AHB. Orange, 25% opaque. Bitter and weird, with pineapple late. Odd.

RP60, from MJRM. Orange, cloudy. Palate peculiar, weird orange citrus, maybe mandarin. Weird. No.

RP55 , from MJRM — absent, but kindly donated bottles, for which my hat doffed.Good Port here. Light, slight spirit, a lovely structure-giving bitterness, with the finish its best part. But less full strength than ’55s can be. Improved with time in the glass. MPM said “thin metallic”, which, though...

RP52, from MSC. Orange colour 25% opaque. Dry early palate; unbalanced; with oranges. Others liked it more than I did.

RP45, from NAC. Dark red, 40% opaque. Lots of fruit present: both red and dark cherry. Big and intense, but also slightly hollow. Showed much better early evening than late. I liked.

RP35, from CEM. Orange, 20% opaque. Nose faint, but clean. Soft soft lychee texture, very mature and gentle, with lovely sweetness.

RP34, from IDJ. Orange, 20% opaque. Nose strongly of burnt rubber. Palate better than nose, but I struggled to get past the burnt rubber.

RP31, from CEM. Orange, 20% opaque. Soft, sweetness, gentle chilli spice, warms and grows in mouth, with pineapple late. Very long. Liked.

RP27, bottled 1932, from HTWH. Orange-brown, 20% opaque. Light and faded, but just present. Long, mandarins, but far far junior to the RP26.

RP26 , from MSC+AHB+HTWH. red-brown, 30% opaque. Nose had dark cigar smoke. palate lovely: light smoke, molasses as if from a Campbeltown whisky, soft, light, some bitterness giving grip, resin flavours, and late-palate sugar. RP24, bottled 1926, from HTWH. Orange, 20% opaque. Palate had pineapple acidity, which made me think of a light-damaged Sauternes. GEAG said, not wrongly, “Hmm.”.

1887 Bom Retiro Garrafeira, from Tony. Orange, 15% opaque. Nose faint, slight sugar, slight alcohol. Palate very acidic, grapefruit acidity. George might have mentioned “Madeira”. Not good.
