If someone had told me before the tournament that Germany would win the world cup I would have admitted him to a lunatic asylum. With all the injured players that could not join the team I thought that the last 16 would be the end of the tournament for Germany.
I still cannot believe it. In the the last 24 years I doubted if I would ever see a night like this again in my lifetime.

Germany were the most consistent team in the tournament. The victory over Brazil was a fluke and was mainly down to Brazil falling apart, but Germany were clinical enough to take advantage where many other teams would have failed.
I didn't realise until tonight that this was the first victory since re-unification. I like that because it puts even more of the past firmly in the past.

Those are the feet of the unknown footballer.
As the team was the star in our case, I find it quite fitting that they didn't single out one player for special praise. I think Argentina would have put a picture of Messi on it's stamp.

A massive picture of Joachim Löw embracing Messi should be put up in front of the Reichstag. Inspiring.
