Tapatalk 2 with TPF & iPhone
Can anyone advise whether they have got Tapatalk push notifications to work on an iPhone 4S? I installed this to obviate the need for email notifications, which are not the handiest way to manage new posts. However I receive no push notifications and the Tapatalk support is useless. Any clues..?

Re: Tapatalk 2 with TPF & iPhone
Tapatalk is... well, buggy, I think. I use a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which is an Android phone, so my results may differ from yours.
Push notifications for PMs work fine for me at both TPF and FTLOP. I don't use push notifications for any other purpose so cannot comment on further functionality.
However, the "Latest -> Unread" tab is inconsistent. It seems to work fine at FTLOP, but is rubbish at TPF. I often use Tapatalk to check TPF and am told by the "Latest -> Unread" tab that there are no new posts, yet when I check the "Forums" tab there are many new posts. Sometimes dozens.

I have installed the latest version of Tapatalk on this forum.
It seems to work fine on my iPhone5 but can others please test on other devices and report any errors/problems here?

It appears to have fixed the bug I've been seeing... Latest->Unread is back to showing new posts. Yay!

I didn't receive a push notification of JDAW's message via Tapatalk (I did via email). Grumble.
EDIT: I did receive a notification of DRT's!

Re: Tapatalk 2 with TPF & iPhone
I have unsubscribed from forums, cleared the cache, turned notifications off, logged out and quit everything and then done the reverse of all that. Let's see if the notifications work properly now.

Have you created and logged in with a Tapatalk ID? (accessed via Settings)

I give up. There is nothing else left that I can switch off and on again. No doubt it'll start working by itself next week some time, in the middle of the night.

Re: Tapatalk 2 with TPF & iPhone
Notifications must be specifically turned on in the android version of the app. Simply subscribing to threads, etc, is insufficient.djewesbury wrote:mmnnggnnmmnngg!DRT wrote:Are you breathing normally now?

Also, push notifications via the app may (or may not) be immediate. I don't know how the iPhone handles such things, but for power management purposes it might only check apps every 30 minutes or something like that.

Re: Tapatalk 2 with TPF & iPhone
There are actually 3 separate places were one needs to check notification settings - in the app, in the general notifications preferences, and in the preferences within those for each app.Glenn E. wrote:Notifications must be specifically turned on in the android version of the app. Simply subscribing to threads, etc, is insufficient.djewesbury wrote:mmnnggnnmmnngg!DRT wrote:Are you breathing normally now?

It now seems to be working, though! And the notifications come appreciably quicker than they do via email. Fingers crossed...

Re: Tapatalk 2 with TPF & iPhone
Everyone appears to be receiving the push notifications except one person. Evidence appears to be emerging as to where the problem might lie.

Re: Tapatalk 2 with TPF & iPhone
Here's something interesting. There seems to be no way in Tapatalk to delete PMs. This means that if, like me, you hoard all those old messages (saying things like "Don't say anything, I'm going to wind *name removed* up about that bottle of *vintage and shipper redacted*, this should be fun"), and eventually end up with a full inbox, at which point you can no longer receive new messages, you have to go to the full website to delete old messages and release new ones..
