To record tasting notes and thoughts on fortified wines we might try which do not come from the demarcated region of the Douro Valley

Carcavelhos. Aged for an average of 7 years in a mixture of Portuguese and French oak. Pale peach colour. A lovely nose of peach and apricot, sweet and honeyed. Sweet, light and gentle on the palate - a touch of honey, lots of floral perfume. The wine has enough acidity to be balanced. Honey and lime on the aftertaste and finish. Delicious, and very easy to drink. 90/100. Tasted at the Dirty Dozen tasting in London on 13-Sep-2022.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
