2009 Quevedo Sample Sousao

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Quevedo bottled some of their 2009 Vintage Ports in quarter bottles as single varietal VPs, although the regulations do not permit these to be labelled as VP. The following notes are for the wines on a Pop and Pour basis.

Sousão: blueberry on the nose, nicely developed. Smooth on the palate, pleasant sweet fruit with tannins on the mid-palate. The tannins develop a wonderful grip, ripe yet slightly green. Fragrant. Pleasant. A lovely palate. A little subdued on the aftertaste but there is some nice chocolate on the finish. Very nice. 88/100. Tasted 03-Mar-23 2023. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
