Slightly lighter in colour than the Fonseca 1977. Superb nose, rich and complex, full of life and of juniper berries - just fabulous! Balanced entry, wonderfully mature, bringing cedar, juniper and lots of maraschino cherry. The aftertaste has a wonderful fragrance. This is a superb wine which fills the mouth with layer after layer of flavour. Wonderful Port, just delicious! 95/100. Decanted 5½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
