1994 Quevedo colheita

Post by PhilW »

Colheitas seem to me to generally taste perhaps 10 years younger than their XX year old tawnies (such as 30yr Colheita vs 20 year tawny), probably due to the small amounts of older components in the mix.

The Q94c is interesting to me as it tastes younger than I expect, perhaps 17yt equiv, but is soooo smooth, with sweet red almost glacé cherries. Lovely, and quite more-ish.

I remember barrel sampling this a good decade or more ago. It definitely showed why it was such a good VP year. Still dark, tannic and brooding compared to the 1991 and 1992 Colheita barrel samples.
