First bottle from OWC purchased en primeur from La Vigneronne (South Kensington) in 1996. Has been in my cellar since release.

Double decanted and VacuVined at 1900/1930 on the evening before the tasting. QA sample was good.

Pale rim, otherwise a deep cherry colour.

Spirity nose. Good wine, but too spirity on the finish for my tastes.

70% opacity, deep dark red. Bramble nose. Powerful, tannic but softening, full dry mouthfeel. Fruit a bit closed/muted. Blockbuster.

Very spirity nose. A bit closed with the fruit for now for my liking.

Decanted 24 hours before being tasted, returned to the bottle and sealed with a Vacu-Vin.

A lovely colour, deep red but showing to be in early maturity; 90% opaque. Lots of cedar and spice on the nose. Wonderful smooth, satin texture. A beautifully balanced palate which is rich and spiced with wonderful fruit and impressive layering of flavours. Fragrant aftertaste and a fabulous red fruit, jelly and cinnamon finish. Much more mature than the Fonseca but just so delicious! 94/100. 16-Nov-21. Decanted 1 day.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
