1980 Dow Vintage Port from a half-bottle
Dark as usual, with a garnet color when it thins. Pop and pour, so clarity is lacking, better by night 2.
Nose has light bottle stink & celery, with a hint of white pepper.
Tastes of a well balanced port, big black cherry notes, a little spirity. There's a quiet moment beyond the mid palate, then it returns with a pepper and dark fruit note.
Overall, lovely 94-95, guessing 10+ years before it fully matures.
