1966 Review

Post by Axel P »

On 13 February a very nice 1966 horizontal tasting with some 20 shippers including all big names was held.

Kindly supported by Julian with the placemats and Nick Delaforce as the guest of honour, my favourite was Dow, Warre and Fonseca, but the Port of the Night was Noval Nacional. Amazingly the regular Noval was just a tiny hint behind this.

To be repeated in the UK

Sounds awesome Axel!

Please tell me AHB (or someone!) was around for notes?!

I have always thought 70 trounces 66 (on absolute and certainly relative value basis), but happy to take another look at the finest specimens.

Come to London on the 17th?!

I would love to, Chris, but you picked the last day of ProWein, the worlds biggest and most important wine fair which is only some minutes away from my hometown.

I am having a drinkup party after this, where we are used to empty all bottles I am opening for seminars on the day.

I will post a note for anyone around.

yes this was a true suprise and an example of the importance of the bottling company, when we speak about old VP. In this case it was a Charles Kinloch London bottling.

I guess that may be an Oporto or another UK bottling would not show up that nice.
