2007 Quinta do Vesuvio

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

1,000 cases produced in this, the first vintage of the Vesuvio DOC wine; matured for 10 months in oak before bottling. Deep red with an opaque centre, rich appearance and with no purple. Herbaceous fruit on the nose delivering a lovely complexity, sweet and attractive. The sweet fruit leads the entry with chewy tannins that support a delightful mouthful of fruit - the palate is rather wonderful. The sweet fruit leads the aftertaste with a huge volume at first, and this leads to a long and lingering finish. A very fine wine. 90/100. Drunk 24-Feb-15.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
