From half bottle.
I visited the Hotel du Vin in Birmingham before flying home today. I left myself too little time however (and they weren't the quickest) so I only had time for one course, and this with it.
Decanted very carefully at the table.
Lovely earthy nose, with forest floor notes, along with blood and iron. Mouth is medium bodied on entry, a rich, round blackcurrant and blackberry fruitiness is held in perfect check by light acids that give a very pleasant mouthfeel to this. It's light and juicy and very fresh. A long finish with a clean acid core, with a tingling in the gums that lasts and lasts. Very good. Set me up for the journey back.

I'm delighted that you try Italian wines. Just carry on.
