Handed down a unique (?) bottle of Players...

Post by mrgray »

I have been handed down a bottle of players port wine...

and I have NO idea if its worth anything...worth mega bucks...worth opening...keeping...

I cant find any information online so I thought I would join here and find out with you lovely folk..!

Am I going to start a bidding war...or do I expect to be laughed at by saying the glass value is worth more than the content

C da Silva is now known as Dalva, and an old bottle of Dalva’s no-specific-age tawny might be worth a tenner. (But don’t refuse less.)

Instead, why not drink it? After opening it will remain good for several days, and perhaps much longer — or at least, it will remain as good as it is, which might not be much.

You have had good advice. Before opening and tasting it you should perhaps chill it a little. Normal white wine temperature would be fine.

DRT is quite correct. Lightly chilled. And if it is slightly cloudy, ignore that and drink up.
