Port to sell? Excellent! Please post here, with details of what you have, how stored, and where in the world it is. Please start by reading our ‘Standard advice to would-be vendors' and ‘A note to wine merchants’.

Croft 63

Post by learner »

I have a bottle of Croft 63 port that was given as a gift back in 1981. No proper label just a small white one that states: CROFT'S 1963
The wax seal is slightly damaged and was like that when I received it. The bottle has since been stored flat in a dark under stairs cupboard
I would like to sell. Any idea what price I should be asking for and where I can sell it please?
I can email photos if anyone is interested (can't get them to upload here I'm afraid)
Thank you.

Beneath the reply box is a button “Upload attachment”, which allows exactly that.

The person most likely to want a Cr63 is abroad, so please don’t interpret silence as bad.

Thanks for the information. Are they away for a long time do you know? I'll be patient.

You can currently buy Croft 1963 from reputable retailers for around £85-90 per bottle. A seller can normally expect to net about 50% of this.

Our best advice to potential sellers is normally to urge them to reconsider. A mature bottle of vintage port like the one you have is a wonderful experience and a fantastic drink to share with family or friends. Depending on where you are in the country you would be welcome to bring it to one of our tastings and share some of our port in return.

However, if you are determined to sell for £40-50 then please let me know by private message and also let me know where you are in the UK.

(And I suspect that I am the person JDAW was thinking of when asking you to be patient - I am a '63 baby.)
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
