Port to sell? Excellent! Please post here, with details of what you have, how stored, and where in the world it is. Please start by reading our ‘Standard advice to would-be vendors' and ‘A note to wine merchants’.

Warre's 1966 Vintage Port - 8 bottles

Post by acotto »

I have 8 bottles of Warre's 1966 Vintage Port left from an original case of 12 which I am looking to sell on as I no longer have the means to store them properly.

My father acquired them from a wine merchant in Wilmslow in Cheshire in March 1973 (I have the original receipts) and they were subsequently stored in a cellar until the last couple of years. They have been stored in a house in the original case and straw wrapping. I now have them with me in London.

Do you have any recommendations as to the best way of selling these on to someone who will appreciate them?

Many thanks!

Hello and welcome to :tpf:

Have you a price in mind? Send me a private message if you would rather not speak publicly.

BTW, in June 1973 Berry Bros & Rudd was selling Warre 1966 at £2·50 per bottle; and in Autumn 1973 Hatch Mansfield was quoting £36+VAT per dozen. But I am expecting you to add a little margin to the historic purchase price.

Belated postscript: these were bought, the parcel being split by jdaw1 and PhilW. Fine juice, bottles from jdaw1’s share being tasted in January 2014 and in April 2014.
