2011 Smaller Producers Horizontal - London, 23rd April 2032

Post by djewesbury »

An event to consider the smaller producers of this great year at a time when their ports might be at their peak.

This post to contain details. Provisionally, Davy's Bar & Grill, Holborn.

AHB has asked, should he bring his single bottles of smaller producers to this event or save them for 2051. I think if we really have only one bottle of some of these, then they should be drunk at this event, as there's potentially (or, this being :tpf: I should say 'arguably') more chance of them being in a good window. What a shame it would be to have them only when they're slightly over the hill.

So far:
  • DJ
  • JDAW
  • DRT
  • AHB
  • TLW
  • JK
Details of what and by whom it being brought to follow.

Sir! Are you part American? Surely you have made an error in suggesting an offline of these fine vintage ports before they reach their 21st year? Perhaps you meant to suggest the date of 23rd April 2032? Small details can make such a difference...
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Count me in, I'll be 71 on that day and if I have any decent port left will bring along a bottle or two but nothing from 1961!

Just one little point not to be overlooked, April 23rd. is St. George's Day and by 2032 maybe the English might even have got around to celebrating their Patron Saint.
