Hi
I have a case of 1977 Dow's Silver Jubilee Port (6 bottles). It has been stored in good conditions. I am not really a great fan of port, so I am interested in selling to someone who will enjoy it more than me. Does anyone have any guidance about the best way to sell, price etc.? It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
George

I have a case of 6 bottles of 1977 Dow's Silver Jubilee Port. It has been well stored. I am not a great port drinker and would like to sell so someone else can enjoy it. Any advice on how best to sell and price guidelines would be greatly appreciated.

George: you posted twice in different threads, though on the same subject, so I have brought the two posts together in this thread.

Fine & Rare have D77 at £54. If you were to sell to a local wine merchant, or at auction, you could expect to achieve half of this: £27 × 6 = £162. (I’m assuming that you are UK-located. If not, extra clues please.)
If not corked and too many D77s are it is delicious. Drinking it yourself might be the better-value plan.

dow 77 goes for 100$ retail state side and about 85$ all in auction depending on the month.
as the retail mark up is typically 50% you should be able to get around 50-65$/btl from a retail shop if the bottles are good

Re: 1977 Dow's Silver Jubilee Port
There's quite a lot of Dow '77 around, and there has also been very little price evolution of the '77 vintage over the last few years.
However, 1977 was a pretty dire vintage for the French wine makers, so the significant 40th birthday market will be very port-focused in 2017.
It's therefore a pretty safe bet that prices will take a significant step up towards the end of 2016 - if you can wait that long!
