45% opacity, mature red. Wonderful nose, vanilla, honeycomb, roffee, strawberry. Rich, sweet, chewy. Lovely balance.

Opened at 21.00, decanted at 10.30 and tasted at 19.00.

A wonderful mature red colour, 70% opaque. Slight woody tone to the rose hip syrup nose. Smooth texture, dried red fruits with hints of tannins. Redcurrant cordial, delicate and fragrant with a slight bitterness that accentuates the beauty of the fruit. High acidity shows on the aftertaste, with bitter cranberry and a long, delicious finish. Such an elegant wine with great balance. Very fine, but just pipped for Wine of the Night by the Taylor 1977. 94/100. Decanted 8½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
