1977 Warre

Post by Alex M »

Opened to celebrate the opportunity to consume a bottle of Vintage Port in peace.

From a case of 12 purchased in July 2013 at Bonhams. My cellar records tell me I paid £40 all in per bottle. Provenance - Oxford College (college unknown).

Opened and decanted at 0900. Cork broke owing to operator error.

First tasted at 1900. Almost mature red in colour. Nose of overly ripe strawberries and raspberries. It tastes of these too with a very long finish of mint that initially was off-putting but appears to have weakened at 2000.

A very pleasing wine. Glad to begin working my way through the case.

It is an outstanding year. Sadly marred by a lot of horrible corks.
