1991 Vesuvio

Post by winesecretary »

On the basis of my previous note I have been drinking this wine up. I consider I am right to do so.

+ 48 hours

This further bottle shows cherry and almond on the nose, some red fruit, but mainly prunes, on the palate, and a fairly dry finish, with some Honduran tobacco, late.

Pleasant.

Agree. In the recent year or so I’ve had a number of these from 1/2 bottle, bottle and magnum. Magnums have showed best. but it is quite clear that 1992 was a far better vintage for it. It’s still an enjoyable drink, but one that needs to be enjoyed in the near future as it’s now on its slow downward slide.
