Harvest trip 2021?

Post by uncle tom »

I'm up for this - maybe W/E 17/9 or 24/9

What's the score on the ground though?

If anyone is planning to make the trip, we can meet up at Senhora da Ribeira and talk about filtration ;)

I will be on Roy's Port Harvest Tour 2 which is the last week of September. I'll be in Porto on Sept 24 and 25 before the tour starts and would love to meet up with anyone in the area on those days!

I'll be at the winery at Senhora da Ribeira, from the 30th of August until we're done, probably the end of September.

I will be in the valley prior to the Warre tasting, starting 26 Sep.

MigSU - still at lovely Senhora da Ribeira? Would love to join.

Yup. Here until the end of the month, most likely.

Weather forecast is looking a little better than it did for the second half of the month - what's the mood on the ground?

Very warm (and also dry) today. Some Botrytis has been spotted in the vineyards. Weather is unstable, though. If we can get a few hot and dry days in a row things will get back on track; if not, then it'll be a dash to pick the best grapes before they rot, and let the rest fend for themselves (and manage them later, whatever's left).

I cross my fingers and hope for good weather for you to let the grapes concentrate again and pick...

It's not gonna happen, apparently. Colder again today, and apparently it's staying that way. Hasn't rained but it's looking like it will, tomorrow or so. It's a shame, really, it was a good year up until the harvest.
