Popped, decanted, poured and considered over 90 minutes. Cork short and saturated but level fine for age.
Rose coloured, shading darker red at centre, 50% opaque, looks like a port from the late 70s rather than late 1990s.
Exuberant strawberry-led nose, the strawberries having seemingly been first macerated in weak Darjeeling tea and then mixed with Cherry Heering.
Sweet poached red plums on the palate, very long warm finish which is increasingly marmalade-y, attractive little prickle of cinnamon and allspice right at the end.
I'm quite impressed. Lacks both the tannin and acidity to make really old bones but not every vintage can be like their blockbuster 2000. This is very attractive port, fully mature, delicious drinking now and, on the evidence of this bottle, one to drink now and over the next 3-5 years.

A touch paler. More mint on the nose. It's a red-fruit port. More cherries, kirsch and chocolate on the finish. 'Un porto de plaisir' says my co-taster, guzzling a second glass. Delicious. Might acquire a few more.
