Monday 17 August - Hawksmoor Air Street?

Post by AHB » 17:11 Thu 30 Jul 2020

Hawksmoor recently emailed me to say that they were using the government "eat out to help out" scheme to offer August Monday-Wednesday diners the option of steak & chips for £10 per head, this being based on a 300g (10oz) 35 day dry aged rump.

And Hawksmoor continues to offer their Monday Night Wine Club £5 per bottle corkage rate.

I'm bored with sitting at home all day every day and would very much like to meet up again for a properly socially distanced Port meal with my Port chums. Is anyone willing and able to join me for Port, Steak 'n' Chips at 18.00 on Monday 17th August? Given current rules, we'll be limited to 6 people:
  1. AHB
  2. NAC (provisional)
  3. MPM
  4. CPR (provisional)
  5. IDJ
Top Ports in 2019: Niepoort VV (1960s bottling) and Quinta do Noval Nacional 2017
Top Ports in 2020 (so far): Croft 1945 and Niepoort VV (1960s bottling)

I'm genuinely envious of this plan. Enjoy!

Slight problem - all the Hawksmoors that are open in London are fully booked on Mondays in August. It seems lots of wine lovers had the same idea as me but were quicker off the mark.

I'm on the waiting list but may need to organise an alternative venue at short notice.

I would love to; I really would. However while I am very much missing meeting up and sharing port with friends, I am in a more cautious position, and so will have to remain envious also.
