We decided to do a bit of an impromptu Symington White Blind Tasting, trying the Cockburn Fine White against the Graham № 5 Blend White.
Medium dry blend of Malvasia Fina and Moscatel Gallego bottled 3 months after harvest (!) at 19% ABV. Beautiful decorated bottle; a limited edition of 6,000. Very pale colour. Paler than the Cockburn “Fine White”. Very fruity on the nose. Classic lágrima: tropical fruits (e.g. lychees) with vanilla. Almost coconut. In the mouth, immediately quite simple fruits. Followed by some sugar. A very floral aftertaste. A touch of lemon, too. Moderately sweet. It felt like 90% of a pudding wine but with a Port backbone. Edged the Cockburn in a blind taste on finesse.
