1970 Horizontal - Tier 3 ports

Post by flash_uk »

This poll is seeking to figure out who is interested in tasting the Tier 3 ports at the 1970 Horizontal, and when these Tier 3 ports should be tasted. The poll might result in no firm conclusion, but at least will give an indication of who is interested.

If you are interested, please use the poll to give your preferred timing for the Tier 3 tasting. If either timing suits you, then please add a comment in the thread.

Everyone who votes, please post in the thread that you have voted.

Evening prior, North Korean style, now has 100% of the votes.

But if the consensus is different, I'll still go with it.

Bugger - I can't tell from the poll who is replying. Edited instructions to ask people to post in the thread that they have voted.

Reading on tapatalk - can't see the poll.
I agree that if having a lesser tasting and a greater tasting, the lesser should come first.

I'm going to abstain from voting as I'll have to decide where I stay once I know the location of the tasting. I would be interested in taking part in all parts of this but don't want to sway the vote if I later find out I can only make it for the main part of the tasting in the end.

I have voted evening. Not entirely sure I would give the tiers 1 and 2 Ports a fair chance if I had already tasted tier 3 in the morning, but prepared to give it my best shot should that prove consensus. :)

n.b. Still haven't voted as on Tapa; my pref would be <previous week> for lesser tasting, if that were one of the options.

I think we’re tending towards evening before for the Tier 3s.
We now need any of the other 24 people who expressed interest in the horizontal and do want to taste Tier 3 to vote in order to establish how many for Tier 3.

Perhaps better to focus on the main event first and re-visit this once the date and venue are decided? That will make it easier for people to decide if they can or cannot do Tier 3.

Was hoping this would crystallise that Tier 3 would be for a smaller group, and should it be same day or not. Looks like it might be a smaller group and a different day.

So full steam ahead on picking a date for Tiers 1 & 2 :D

I've voted to taste the previous evening, but tasting on the morning would be acceptable to me although I think would make the logistics and glasses very challenging.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
