Many of us will have the M&S11. Other 11s will be needed — but there’s plenty of time to acquire some.Justin K wrote: ↑23:05 Fri 11 Oct 2019Well the good news is that, finally, M & S have extended the sale to Dublin stores. Unfortunately Martin Moran MW (writes in Irish Times) tipped off his buddies and they triolleyed out quantities of 2007, 2011 and Q da C. Stilll got 4 2011’s (now have a bottle for the 2051 tasting) and 2 20 year old tawnies, all at €9.00 each.

Re: Port for sale by retailer
Waitrose and Waitrose cellar have the "get 25% off 6 or more bottle" offer back. The offer thankfully still includes Port. The higher end Ports are still fairly overpriced but there are some deals to be had. The new Waitrose Crusted from Symmington at £20 (£15 with offer) seems tempting.

Waitrose have got some keen prices on some of their Port in the run up to Christmas — the Sandeman 2014 LBV for under £13 caught my eye.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

How is 2014 for LBV? I've seen a few around but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Has anyone tried any or have any recommendations?AHB wrote:Waitrose have got some keen prices on some of their Port in the run up to Christmas — the Sandeman 2014 LBV for under £13 caught my eye.

Rich - I’ve tried it, and I like it. 2011 was better, but the 2014 has a nice greenness to the tannins that give a delicious extra bite to the wine. It’s also a wine which I would be happy to cellar for 20-30 years!

Re: Port for sale by retailer
Does anyone happen to know if the Waitrose Quinta de la Rosa 2015 is the same wine as the estate bottling?
Re: Port for sale by retailer
According to a very good source it is a different blend, made with input from Waitrose. If interested Ocado have it listed for £25 and not the £35 at Waitrose thus when 25% off as part of a buy 6 promotion it is great value.

Much appreciated Charles, you've just saved me a tidy penny!

Corney & Barrow has just listed 6-bottle cases of 2001 and 2002 TV at £192 and £162 (inc VAT) respectively.
There's one case of the 2001 and several of the 2002.

Corney & Barrow have some individual bottles of Croft 2000 for £37.30 each (DP inc VAT).
I’ve just had 3 bottles delivered and all looks fine. The C&B website indicates there are 5 more available.

I'd just add to anyone thinking about the Croft 2000 that I had chance to taste it a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed. It's turned into quite a lovely Port with lots of potential.

Not cheap, but an usually large volume...
BI Wines & Spirits (formerly Bordeaux Index) have just emailed me with an offer of Noval Nacional 2004 @ £1,500 per case of 3 bottles in bond. They apparently have 15 such cases available.

M&S Dublin 5 bottles of VP 2011 @ €9.00 per bottle, must have been hidden down the back. Only shopping once every 10 days so that brightened up my day

Well that's as heartwarming a story as I've heard in weeks...

A Quevedo virtual tasting from VWP:
https://www.vintagewineandport.co.uk/pr ... vedo-30000
Probably less interesting for the more experienced port drinkers among us but as a relative newbie I certainly had my interest piqued! Any thoughts on this? I figured it's reasonable value and supporting good charities too.

Re: Port for sale by retailer
Just received an offer from BI of new release 1985 Fonseca.
It’s £320 per 6bt IB (equates to £406 inc duty and VAT).
Reduced to £310 (£394) for 2+.
If anyone wants me to forward the email let me know.

That's a great price for the US. Sadly, not great enough to purchase in England and then have shipped to the US.

Another six M&S 2011 in another M&S store. I hope I’m not being sexist but it seem to me that the vast majority of people out shopping are women. Does this mean that women are not interested in VP at €9 a bottle?

Justin, what are you doing out shopping at you age? Shouldn't you be locked down and leaving it to the youngsters?

This appears to be leftovers from last year's stock clearance. I have been to two central London M&S that previously had such stock and I have not seen it on the shelves.

I go out shopping once every two weeks, thanks for your concern Derek, it’s touching, I find the wheels on the Zimmer frame seize up if not moved on a regular basis. Am saving up for one of those turbo mobility scootersBtw on a serious note M&S is the only store without a queue; no patience am turning into a grumpy old man

There are 2 6-bt DP cases of Fonseca 97 available for £220 each on WineOwners.com
As they're DP, only fees and delivery to add (no VAT on the wine, as the sale is peer-to-peer). Total comes in around £252, so £42 a bottle - which I think is a bargain?
