1983 Warre

Post by TLW »

Cork removed relatively cleanly, no seepage.

About 70% opaque with a bit of bricking around the edges. Just after decanting, the nose is dusty and alcoholic, slightly sharp, with just a hint of fruit. Taste of prunes or plums on entry, not terribly powerful or spicy or complex, but pleasant, medium length with a bit of tannin on the finish. Not overpowering, but pleasant enough. and will see how it evolves over the next couple of days.

The next day, a bit softer and rounder. Pleasant enough, but I shan't be rushing out to stock up.

This is a port that I have a soft spot for. I think it's showing a little below its best at the moment, on one of those downturns that port seems to go through from time to time.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
