I think AHB attended both. I only attended one so cannot compare.

To less fanfare than the 1964 last year, the Taylor 1965 single harvest port seems to have been released and available in shops.

Given that it is a year of significance for a particular group of my friends who are Singaporean, I have purchased quite heavily (but I won't know until August how it tastes).

The Krohn brand isn’t dead — this bottle was spotted yesterday in a local wine merchant.

The Krohn brand is not being killed off, as far as I am aware. In the UK, Krohn is represented by a separate agent to Taylor / Fonseca / Croft (which all come through Mentzendorff).

The Krohn stocks of aged tawnies still in barrel are being commercialised under the Taylor name, but TFP have never made any secret of the fact that this was one of the key reasons why Krohn was a good opportunity for them and — at least in my opinion — TFP has done a good job of marketing the tawnies since.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

They have done a very good job marketing them under the Taylor's SHT labels. However, I would venture a guess that in due course Krohn's will be going the way of the Dodo bird. Pure speculation on my part but I don't see TFP wanting to continue on for too long with such a small market share label. At least based on past history of the brands they've acquired and later done away with.

Now, now. You're not being fair.

TFP are not allowed to use the Morgan brand name, they didn't kill off Morgan Brothers as a port shipper, Diageo did that.

Nor did TFP kill off Delaforce, they sold the brand on to another company who are looking to grow the profile of the name in European markets outside the UK. Delaforce is still out there in the market.

Romariz I'm not too sure about. I thought Romariz was a quinta name rather than a Shipper's brand? I don't recall Romariz as a name from history that I've seen and it's not a brand I have ever tasted. I'm not sure you can do away with a brand that never really existed.

Any more?

Regardless, they are brands that TFP owned, in whole or part, at one point and then dumped them some time after. Don't get me wrong, but it appears TFP doesn't want any more brands than their major ones (Taylor's, Fonseca, Croft). I will bet they sell off the name Krohn's in due course. Or just let it slowly go by the way side. I may be wrong but I just don't see them keeping it for the long haul.

I agree. They didn't want Wiese & Krohn, they wanted the W&K Port stocks. Having to buy the whole company in order to get the Port stocks was probably a nuisance at best. They'll try to flip the brand as quickly as possible while it still has some value.
