Thu 24 Nov - the BBR Port Walk
The inside scoop tells me that Charles Symington will be in London on Thursday 24th November. Hmmm, wonder what he might be doing...
Do we want to organise anything for the day before the Port Walk? If so, someone start a thread.

Before this gets out of hand, please allow a clarification. Alex started this thread for a tasting, while trying to wriggle out of being the organiser. So I started the placemats. We had no theme, no agreement, and no bottles. But I have long wanted to taste Dow 1878, so decided to include it on the placemats. And likewise the others.
Anyone “yes please”ing in the hope of tasting any of the bottles on the current version of placemats risks disappointment. Really, we have no Smith Woodhouse 1963 at all. Nor Dow 1899. Nor Graham 1901. Nor Cockburn 1900 in magnums (singles, sure, but singles schmingles—and nobody wants shingles).
Placemats updated to include Simon.

Yep, spotted everything you have pointed out, and still chose to reply "yes please".jdaw1 wrote:Before this gets out of hand, please allow a clarification. Excellent. And, anyway, Alex won’t stint his guest: at least one 1863 is a sure thing.flash_uk wrote:Yep, spotted everything you have pointed out, and still chose to reply "yes please".

Re: Thu 24 November
Sadly I don't have a guest. I found out that Charles was in London on Thursday 24th November through a conversation with one of the other members of the family. I haven't asked if he would like to join us for a tasting on the Wednesday night. Say, to taste a vertical of Gould Campbell in an attempt to persuade the Board to keep the brand going, even if just occasionally for small declarations.

Re: Thu 24 November
Count me in. I thought we have the GC vertical the night before.
If so, Alex, can you please get me a ticket for the BBR walk?
Thanks and best

Re: Thu 24 November
The date of the GC vertical has not been set. At the moment, nothing has been arranged for the night before the Port Walk. I'd be surprised if we don't organise something but there is a risk if you travel over for the Port Walk there is nothing set up for the night before.Axel P wrote:Count me in. I'm happy to get you a ticket, but they are now on general release so we could avoid GBP / EUR exchange confusion if you get one directly by logging on the BBR website http://www.bbr.com/products-39286-port- ... ember-2016 and using a German credit card. Or I'm happy to get one for you if that's easier (and I'll probably give you a better exchange rate).

I have made an executive decision with myself and have decided it is time I experienced this event! Let's hope I am granted a pass!

Re: Thu 24 November
Tony - which tasting are you referring to? This thread is for the Port Walk at Berry Brothers on Thursday 24th November. If you'd like to attend the Port Walk you'll need to buy a ticket from the BBR website.forest26 wrote:Yes please add me to the tasting.
The placemat towards the beginning of this thread was the product of Julian's mischievous sense of humour. It really isn't a tasting where we are sipping fine wines from the 1800s.
Or are you talking about this thread where we are still trying to figure out what to drink the night before the Port Walk?

This is a summary of the TPF folks I think are attending the Thursday Port Walk:
Would anyone be interested in dinner afterwards?
