Turn page at 50, not 15

Post by jdaw1 »

The phpBB default is that a thread turn the page at 15 posts. Please could that parameter be changed to 50. Fifteen so breaks the continuity of a conversation.

I was wondering this as well. I thought 25, 15 is too few but 50 is a bit long.

Can we have a vote on it?

I've updated to 25 for now. It's not just the broadband it's how long it goes on. Opinions from anybody else?

Give 25 a go, and we can always expand. Jdaw1 is probably a bit technilogically advanced. Drag us up to your level slowly, Julian. :D

I'm happy with 25 because I sometimes use my Blackberry so the shorter the pages the faster it loads. Equally happy to go with concensus.

help Blackberry users by not having avatars

Post by jdaw1 »

Blackberry is a fair comment. But making Blackberry users wait until the thing is loaded, before having to turn the page, is harder on them. Instead have a giant length, so the whole things loads whilst being read.

Another way of helping Blackberry users is not to have avatars.

Blackberries and avatars

You’re not wrong.

Though you could have tighter size (width≤80, height≤60, bytes≤5k) restrictions. And ban moving avatars, which I think terrible. (Yes, I know I’m alone.)

Also, a thread on this subject on a different BB, FWLIW.

I increased the size of the avatars as it was a bit restrictive. Only experimenting but if it causes a problem I can knock it back down again.

Does the software provide for a text only version of the site? I'm not sure how these things work but if it's something that just exists with no additional maintenance then that might be a better option for us sad and needy Blackberry people

Jdaw1,

I'm not sure why I'm being so nice, but I'll be moving back to the 'much less' moving cigar smoking BullDog Avatar when the Cat Theme runs its course. Even I find the dancing cat too much. Its funny for a day mind, to mark my respect for Treacle's efforts.

my usual avatar makes me not-a-team-player type person

Post by jdaw1 »

Oh joy!

I recognise that my usual avatar makes me not-a-team-player type person. But, well, I can’t be bothered to locate a cat picture that speaks to me, or of me.

Why that last one is so funny escapes me but it is. Treacle loved it.
