Are you two minutes late? The first post is labelled “Posted: 16:15 Wed 20 Jun 2007†, where my timezone is GMT-5hr, which would be 21:15 GMT or 22:15 BST.

Not that it helps at all with Conky’s sensible question.
It appears as 21:15 here too.

Not that that advances us any further towards an answer to Conky's sensible question.

I think an offline is in order.

By my reckoning this forum has generated more port offlines than any other port forum on the planet so that has to be the way to cellebrate our 1st birthday?

I love these annoucements about 'Global' 'Planet' 'World' when trumpeting some fact.

There's only really two popular Port Forums, and a few other dusty bolt-ons.

Its like our cousins and their World Final of the American Football.

Not really. I meant conception, as in the meaning at 5.

Conception was it being discussed, …

Post by jdaw1 »

Conception was it being discussed, the domain being purchased by somebody, and the like. Surely by the time a post was made it had been born.

(But Conky, next you accuse someone else of attempting to be pedantic, think of glass houses.)

A pedant doesn't listen to the thrust of the point.
He cannot content himself with the fact that he knew what the other person meant.
He just drones on about details and minutiae.
He feels achievement in inane correction.

Point of information:

When has anybody not suggested that an off-line (known also as Tasting or Get-Together) is not a good idea not supported by the majority and not unsupported by the unconditional minority of non-supporters?

Never have the majority of the opposition to the minority of non-supporters suggested anything other than an Off-line would be a better alternative to the situation of not having an Off-line as perhaps would be supported by those who directly opposed the view that an Offline was the preferrable alternative the the absence of such an event.

Just in case anyone has forgotten: :TPF: was born on Wednesday 20th June 2007 and 22:15 BST. I would therefore suggest that whatever event is deemed suitable to mark our 1st Anniversary happens or commences precisely at or as close as is practicable to 22:15 BST on Friday 20 June 2008.

Does that seem reasonable?

Here is my suggestion for the event:

Event Type: Virtual Off-line

When?: See post immediately preceeding this one

Attendees: Anyone who can make it and wants to be there

Theme: Open at least one bottle of port and drink it whilst spouting off about port and drivel on :tpf:

Types of Port Allowed: Anything you want to open

Rules: None worth mentioning

Can you use a Tasting Mat?: Hell yes! Jdaw, please produce 1, 2, 3 & 4 glass blinded variants for starters?

That's my starter for 10 - feel free to improve.

That seemed to have covered all salient points, with due diligence to the hopes and aspirations of our fine community.

So just open a bottle around 2215hours, and talk Port?
