The BBC has an excellent article about mining and miners, entitled How my father gave me a terrifying lesson at 10.
It raises many moral and economic questions, the very least of which is “Why, nowadays, do so few people wear hats or caps when drinking?”.
Why?
Hats and caps
Re: Hats and caps
That's a good question. Perhaps it would be a good idea to wear hard hats when drinking a lot of port.

Excellent read from the BBC
Re: Hats and caps
The word excellent has been used twice in three posts, but is this really excellent writing: "Oh no, I thought. My dad was full of surprises - it was the one thing I didn't like about him - and he always sprang them on you when you weren't expecting them."
Personally, I prefer surprises I was expecting. Much easier to cope with.
