We are having a discussion about how to abbreviate the name of Davy”s first wine bar. Obvious possibilities include:
• B&F
• B+F
• BAF
• BaF

Please, what abbreviation is used within Davy’s?

Why, then, is this option not included in the Poll? Should it be? Do we need another Poll?

There is a precedent. Do you not remember the Honourable Member for Streatham having to concede that the abbreviation for Cockburn should follow that used by the shipper?

Not me. Editing the Poll wiped out all the votes (which it didn't on the other occasions it was edited).

Always a problem. Julian being inexact and wishy-washy.

The poll is on a knife edge. We are expecting late returns from Belfast...

I take it this is the first round poll and we will have a second round where there is a run off between the top two.

And I notice that there have been a total of 101% of votes cast. Like all those people who promise to give 110% at job interviews.

No. This is a simple FPTP vote.

Multiple rounds — pah! (See Non-Intuitive Features of Electoral Systems for examples of non-monotonicity.)

FPTP - agreed.

So the only remaining question is who is going to be our Nick Clegg?

“B&F”: 4 votes
“B+F”: 2 votes
“BAF”: 1 vote
“BFL”: 1 vote
“BaF”: 0 votes

We have a result, and by a chunky margin: B&F.
