As a native speaker I knew what you meant, but the opportunity for the joke had to be seized

Remind the audience of the blood-pressure score that caused your knee operation to be cancelled.
221/131. Now averaging 134/87.
Holy hell, that's some score, assuming you weren't having sex with the nurse while she measured it (or massive stress from the knee and/or having your BP taken) - and even then I'm not sure the diastolic would go up like that... If that was a repeated reading while resting then... wow, and very glad to see the very worthwhile dramatic reduction, with good reason.

Getting back on topic - Happy birthday Andre!
Currently toasting you with a cup of tea; not quite the same, but 8am and at work is a touch early to break out the bottles :)
What will you be opening tonight, if anything special?

I remember, when you told me this originally, looking at a blood pressure chart and dismissing it as useless because it didn't go past 190.

Good lord. That's me on a bad day. I feel certain that I would be spewing little fountains of blood out of my eyes if my BP were 221/131.

My BP was once tested at 91/46. It took the nurse several attempts to find it, and at one point she looked at me and asked "are you sure you're alive?" This was well before the current zombie craze, so she was serious.

I'm more normally around 110/70 or 80, though it's been trying to creep up with age.

Very low blood pressures come with different, but equally serious, health issues. Look after this Glenn as I would hate to have no one to joust with over Parker points...

Definite progress. Worth the alcohol free effort. I even see a splash of green in there.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

I’ve lost about the amount of weight as has Derek (about 1½ stone), despite starting lighter and being taller. He has work to do, and knows it. Well, he has work to do, and has been told it.

Let's be absolutely clear. I have no desire whatsoever to have any responsibility for any aspect of Julian's behaviour.

I know it. Total weight loss now 1st 5lbs. At least 2st to go.

For those that have not seen him recently I can attest that JDAW is now, relatively speaking, verging on anorexic.

Eat less. A few days, a lot less. Most days, much less.

Water lessens hunger. Water with lemon even more so.

Eating heartily has two problems. Most obviously, calories. But also appetite expansion. So big eating has to be followed by a ‘lot less’ day.

Result: thinner me, feeling not one ounce more or less healthy.

Who could have guessed that JDAW could become so obsessive about something he had decided he needed to do. Remarkable.

I did not need to do it. I felt that an example had to be set — just couldn’t bark dieting orders whilst being a tub of lard myself.
