Is there a better start to the day?

Talk about anything but keep it polite and reasonably clean.

Is there a better start to the day?

Post by Conky »

Those who came to the F Plan Offline will recognise this image, but is there a better start to a very cold Autumnal morning? Wave the Mrs off to work, and sit down to the cooked artistry of the local butcher, who does all his own sausages, black puddings and bacon. Just the Merseyside Derby, United v Villa and the small matter of the Rugby World Cup to negotiate...this could be a tuffy!

Happy Days!

I can best that. The first thing to pass my lips this morning was a Croft 63. The second was a Martinez 85

Nah...

Not having it. If you cracked on and started drinking them, fair enough. But if you just sipped them in the decanting process for later? Nah.

Thats like me only being able to smell that plate of food then having to put it in the fridge until later on!

Next Candidate??? :D

This morning I am on Pellegrino  Tasting note on Vargellas Vinha Vella 1995 to follow. All I can say, I was emptied faster than all the wines last night, it was amazing, so is the hangover. Seeing your picture Allan made me look in disgust as I would trow so fast eating that this morning.

What is the black (burned?) thingy on the left in your plate?

Fred,

That is what is known as Black Pudding. A great British delicacy eaten mostly in the north of England. Basically, it is made from blood and guts of variouis animals. All the crap left over by the butcher made into a large sausage and then fried in slices like the one seen on Alan's plate.

Yes, I know what you are thinking - DISGUSTING !!! - and you are right. I never touch the stuff. It should only be fed to dogs.

Nope - just the blood with some spices and some fat. Normally it is pig's blood but can be cattle, goat or sheep.
Port is basically a red drink

Alex,

I'm with you. People eat sausages and burgers and then pull a face at Black Pudding! Odd.

And you know when Mel Gibson had that blue makeup on, and that 'remarkable' Scottish accent, and was charging down the hill to lose to the English?
Well did you spot our Dereks fearless ancestor a bit further back, shouting 'I'll be with you in a bit, but I'm a bit rough after last nights Haggis!'

Feel free to see the huge difference in the below links,

Haggis (Scottish National Dish)

Black Pudding (Lancastrian Delicacy)

Doc measured my cholesterol recently. Previous time it was only just inside the normal range, this time it was lower. Teacher’s pet!

Moral: black pudding and 1960s Fonseca make you healthy.
