Toasting the Portuguese Ambassador

Post by benread »

I am sat here with a glass of Morgan 1991 toasting the Ambassador for being the start of a fabulous 14 day Olympic experience for me. Thank you.

Come on team GB!

And I'm currently sat here watching an exceedingly good Volleyball match between Turkey and Brazil - it's just gone into a 5th set.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

I have to say that the Olympics have gotten off to a fantastic start.

Last night's opening ceremony was the perfect mix of patriotism, unnecessary self-indulgence and artsy-fartsy nonsense* - well done Mr Boyle!

But this speech is possibly one of the best I have ever heard - magnificent British eccentricity at its best - well done Boris!

Unfortunately, Team GB haven't quite got going yet - but there is always tomorrow

*Excluded from my praise is the nightmare that is know as "Sir Paul (I can't sing but I can move like your uncle dancing with your fifteen year old cousin at a wedding) McCartney". Appalling. What an embarrassment. The man should be sectioned and never be allowed to appear in public again.
