Already been called and was wrong then as well. The New York boroughs joke has now beeen attempted three times and it wasn't funny the first time. For pity's sake look in flipping Wikipedia, under 'Lancashire'.

This could be amusing if I'm wrong,

but as it's you Alex, and your a Southern Softie, could I suggest the following to put you out of your misery in Lancashire matters.

The Lancaster Canal starts in the Borough of Kendal. It then traverses, surprisingly enough, through the Borough of Lancaster, before ending up in the Borough of Preston.

That is nowhere near Covent Garden.

Happy Easter.

Good to see you Alan. But you are wrong. Don't forget that I used to live in Lancashire. Happy Easter.

Aren't you assuming that Conky's comment was aimed at you? I read it and assumed it was aimed at me - and it made me laugh, which has not happened too much today.

Since I'm allowed another guess now - how about West Lancashire?
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Having re-read both Alan and Alex's posts, I suspect that you are right.

West Lancs - ahhhh, Ormskirk and Skem. Nope.

I'm beginning to think that this is a conspiracy.

Hey! I wasn't joking! :P

Wikipedia was no help. I'm going to guess Preston. Or Queens. But hopefully Preston.

Sadly no. We are going to run out of boroughs.

Yes - at last. We started in the borough of Burnley at Hapton Bridge and walked along the Leeds Liverpool canal path, all the way through Hyndburn, including Harrison's home town of Oswaldtwistle, finishing in Blackburn (with Darwen) at the Red Lion.

Didn't take long, did it? Julian's turn.

And that was the guess I changed last time. Happens.

Yesterday I went to the barber. My instruction to said barber consisted of two clauses, each containing a number. What was my instruction?

Hmm... given what I recall of your hairstyle, I'm going to guess that your instruction was a 4 blade all over and a 3 blade on the sides.

The form of the request is near enough (x on top, y on sides), but your numbers are hopeless.

Well I'm a 3 all over, so I don't have much experience with the larger blades and was just guessing!

One number is correct. The other is too large.

Obviously not: that would have been ‟one all over”. One number correct, one slightly too small.

I don't go to barbers, I don't know the rules. Are halves allowed?

I'm not buying this - your hair isn't that short! I do a 3 all over and it leaves my hair about 3/8" long. Have you gone buzz cut since the Old and Odd?

Oh wait, I think I figured it out...

1.5" on top and 1" on the sides. Which, technically, is what Derek guessed as well so I'm too late.

Correct. (And I believe the units are in eighths of inches.) Derek: at last, your question.

The Old and Odd might have been at a time when a haircut was overdue.
